Using Templates for incident reviews in Jeli (Beta)

Templates in Jeli are helpful for organizations that have specific requirements or unique needs for post-incident review documentation, and in general to give folks a starting point for what to capture in the Executive Summary and Key Takeaways sections.

Creating templates can help you:

  • Keep all of your opportunity data in one place instead of across multiple docs

  • Create consistency in reporting across multiple teams

  • Streamline your process instead of spending time writing boilerplate

Templates in Jeli allow you to pre-define incident review templates for your Executive Summary and Key Takeaways fields. This article explains how to get started and use Templates in Jeli.

📣 Jeli Admins currently have the ability to create, edit, and delete templates. Reach out to an Admin to make any changes to existing templates in your Jeli instance.

Create a new template

  1. Click into the Executive Summary or Takeaways field and select the “Choose a template” button from below the text area.

  2. Choose “Create template”

  3. Create your new template:

  • Name: The name of your template (ex. AwesomeCo Incident Report Template)

  • Template: The Markdown for your template. Jeli supports Github flavored Markdown

  • Type: Whether this template should apply to the Executive Summary text area, the Takeaways text area, or both.

  • Set as default for Executive Summary: Populate the Executive Summary field with this template by default for all new opportunities.

  • Set as default for Takeaways: Populate the Takeaways field with this template by default for all new opportunities.

Use an existing template

  1. Click into the Executive Summary or Takeaways field and select the “Choose a template” button from below the text area.

  2. Select the template you wish to use for this Opportunity

  3. Confirm you wish to overwrite the existing field with the template

✨ You will now see your template populated into the appropriate field(s)!

Edit a template

  1. Click into the Executive Summary or Takeaways field and select the “Choose a template” button from below the text area.

  2. Select the menu button next to the template you would like to edit, then select “Edit”

  3. Edit the template and select “Ok” to save!

Delete a template

  1. Click into the Executive Summary or Takeaways field and select the “Choose a template” button from below the text area.

  2. Select the menu button next to the template you would like to edit, then select “Delete”

  3. Confirm to delete

Template Management

Templates are easily managed through the Settings tag in the Jeli web app and navigate to Templates. This is where you can view all templates currently used in your Jeli instance, who created the template, and if the template is used as a default template.

📣 Jeli Admins currently have the ability to create, edit, and delete templates. Reach out to an Admin to make any changes to existing templates in your Jeli instance.

You can also create, edit, and delete templates from this page in addition to the Opportunity level.
